I’ve been watching the UFC since the late 1990’s,,, when Anderson Silva came on to the set yes he certainly turned heads and was considered a extremely talented fighter but he wasn’t as popular as what people today think he was. Like with any popular sport he was liked by a certain crowed of people Bessie he had his fair share of haters back then, there were names and fighters that lost to him that were way more popular than Silva

@@marc2638 I mean, sure, you have a point, but anyone who closely followed the sport during his prime knew how special and rare his talent was. From a fan's perspective, Anderson's prime is something that's hard to put into words. Nobody I can think of other than Conor at 145 had the aura Anderson had, and that aura lasted much longer than Conors did. Of course you had dominate champions like GSP and Jones, but Anderson made you feel like the impossible was possible and it was almost like he was untouchable no matter the opponent/style or if he moved up in weight, each fight was an artistic masterpiece.

The reason I have always taken Anderson Silva as the true GOAT of the UFC is not just for statistical reasons. But it's two special things: 1. His fighting style is enticing and spectacular. He dominated his opponents so much that one wondered if he was from this world or if he was an Avenger. 2. His thirst for combat. He accepted all fights without calculating the momentum and whoever his opponent was. He could accept 10 fights in 1 year to atomize his contenders in the middleweight category, just as he could accept 1 fight in the higher category just a few days before the event. And even after his tibia fracture, he still had his gnac and his vision but only the physical had regressed. On the other hand, what disappointed me a little about him was that, after having seen and rewatched the fight against Weidman several times, he really lacked seriousness. In the end, he found stronger than him: Himself because if he hadn't acted like that by taunting Chris so much, he would have knocked this guy out very quickly. No doubt a human feeling after such a long domination without real competition.

Anderson had very underrated ground and pound. Most ground and pounders just throw blind punches and hope some of them land, Anderson faked two or three times until he found an opening and then delivered a big, clean one. He did that multiple times to multiple opponents.

The Spider's two victories over Sonnen were wonderful. The first victory where the Spider was beaten for a good part of the fight but won in the end was very rewarding. But the most gratifying scene in UFC history, in my opinion, is Sonnen's scared face.
