For anyone wondering @7:20 Adesanya is referring to Dricus du Plessis, the Boer South African fighter who currently has the longest win streak in the Middleweight division and is ranked #6. That was an impressive knockout, he really shut a lot of people up today and I like to see that being the case, recency bias had a ton of people outright ignoring everything else he had achieved to this point. Kudos to Pereira though, he really was damaging Izzy, he simply got overconfident (or, rather, he felt like Izzy was hurt badly when the reality was that he was just baiting him for a good opening) and having his guard down for just a bit gave us one of the coolest results to a fight ever; cool to see that Adesanya ended this using a similar punch to the one that made Pereira shake the last fight. whether or not Izzy was playing possum when he was backed up against the cage you cant deny how accurate those punches were. Its the one thing he had going for him in the first fight. his accuracy . He setup the punch and followed through. No being saved by the bell this time for Alex. Crazy. Great job to Izzy and RIP to the rest of the division who tries to get that belt.

I watched the replay quite a few times, and he definitely wasn’t hurt when he backed up to the cage. Those leg kicks were really impressive from alex though. The only other one that would make sense would be Whittaker (as he is coming off of a win over Vettori), but Izzy has already beaten him twice. When he retires from MMA he will perform much better than all these other crossover athletes who put on boxing gloves. Check out all the clips of him taking out much bigger guys in kickboxing.
