Izzy definitely proved the power of the mind. Very few people have taken the belt back from an immediate rematch and from a tko. Respect to Izzy and respect to Alex for being a great fighter, hope we see them again hungry in the future.

This is the most impressive comeback victory since Conor beat Nate the second time in 2016. Both Conor and Izzy were embarrassed the first time and practically everyone in the world was betting against them but they both overcame all that BS and defined their greatness.

haven't even watched this video yet, but I'm 100% confident Izzy practiced that swinging while in a tight spot and against the cage. The 5 seconds before the knockout looked very similar to the first fight. Alex started closing in and pushing him against the cage. But Izzy knew he had an answer this time. Izzy is a freaking beast.

Difference is Alex did that in the 5th and now in the 2nd against a more fresh not tired Izzy. Imo Alex should have waited for the latter rounds, trust more in his cardio and work more of Izzy's leg and body and head and then go for it.

The shot that Izzy hit Alex with , if you look back at the last fight, Izzy also caught him i think in the 3rd round with the SAME or very similar Right Hook near the temple and staggered Alex, but Izzy didn't follow up and took his foot off the gas. This fight was very hesitant from both fighters due to their defense stances and counter tatctics. Izzy had to use the fence and turtle up to get Alex to become over confident and start swinging with carless recklessness to draw Alex out

2:29 I'm glad someone acknowledged it. People are kind of slow and a bit dense so I can't really hold it against them for not noticing it STILL, even after seeing the slo-mo replay smh. For anyone wondering @7:20 Adesanya is referring to Dricus du Plessis, the Boer South African fighter who currently has the longest win streak in the Middleweight division and is ranked #6. Dricus says he will be the first true African Champion because he was raised completely in Africa and still currently lives and trains in Africa. This statement obviously gets under the skin of guys like Usman and Adesanya who despite their origin - live and train in White countries. Compelling storyline and rivalry forming if Dricus continues to win.

Whatever we think about him personally no one can deny what a performance it was today. Typical style bender counter strike that was ⚡️ fast no one even saw it (the second right hook that put him to sleep). Beautifully baited Alex up against the cage.... it doesn't get more comprehensive than that. I think Alex deserves a rematch but not right now. another incredible comeback story that will be remembered for generations to come. like something out of a damn movie.. alex working him against the cage.. flashes of their last 3 fights and defeats flashing through izzy's mind as he's taking the shots... and then out of nowhere comes one punch that rocked not just alex but the entire stadium and everyone watching... and then one more to put alex down for good. liek the right hand of god himself. simply amazing. That was an impressive knockout, he really shut a lot of people up today and I like to see that being the case, recency bias had a ton of people outright ignoring everything else he had achieved to this point. Kudos to Pereira though, he really was damaging Izzy, he simply got overconfident (or, rather, he felt like Izzy was hurt badly when the reality was that he was just baiting him for a good opening) and having his guard down for just a bit gave us one of the coolest results to a fight ever; cool to see that Adesanya ended this using a similar punch to the one that made Pereira shake the last fight. Hopefully they go at it again but not immediately, I want to see both of them fight other people before their next UFC clash.

@@stephenhughes5156 guess we'll see if they even book it. I agree with izzy's point that pereira has to work to get back to the title. he was super fast tracked to the belt and has shown that he has massive holes in his game when it comes to all around MMA. give him some of the hard fights like Rob, Vettori, even khamzat lol
@stephenhughes5156
@stephenhughes5156 2 жыл бұрын
@@tylerjeffer8855 I mean, they probably won't. Dana himself has said that Alex will be going up to 205. Though if Alex did want to stay at MW, I do think he deserves a rematch considering he is the only one to ever beat Izzy at MW. The only other one that would make sense would be Whittaker (as he is coming off of a win over Vettori), but Izzy has already beaten him twice. Khamazat would just be another case fast tracking- but at least in Alex's case it kind of made sense considering his history with Izzy.

Izzy set up the trap with a light left which you can barely see, totally disrupting the ex champ's lethal left, & setting up his own haymaker right. Izzy's boxing is utterly superb. When he retires from MMA he will perform much better than all these other crossover athletes who put on boxing gloves. Check out all the clips of him taking out much bigger guys in kickboxing. Dude is super talented. Given he was blatantly robbed of one decision it's actually 2-2 between these two overall, across traditions, not 3-1 as most believe.
