On episode 4 of UFC 177 Embedded, the cursed fight card becomes a Cinderella story as the main event changes on weigh-in day. Title challenger and former champ Renan Barao bows out for medical reasons, creating a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Joe Soto, a former belt-holder in other organizations about to make his UFC debut on the prelim card, until he got the call that would change his life. TJ Dillashaw proves he’s a company man and true champion willing to fight anyone, anytime by accepting a new challenger on one day’s notice. UFC President Dana White lambastes the negative media and implores his fighters to seize the opportunity to prove all the doubters wrong. UFC Embedded is an all-access, behind-the-scenes video blog series focusing on the days leading up to the UFC 177 bantamweight title fight, Saturday, August 30th on Pay-Per-View.

Dana has to realize the card is being shit on because of lack of star power, not because we don't think these guys can put on great fights. People buy PPV cards to see big names fighting, not because they are expecting great fights. Sometimes the big names disappoint, sometimes they deliver. Going back over the last 130+ cards, there have only been 2 or 3 that I was actually disappointed in, so few that I can't even remember what year they happened. It's almost guaranteed that there will be some good fights on Saturday, but again, not why people buy the PPV. This is the weakest PPV card that I can think of in the history of the UFC but I'll still watch it, just won't buy it.

Renan Barao pulled out with 24 hours notice. What you are typing makes no sense. When a title challenger pulls out on 24 hours notice for a PPV main event, even the most stacked card will have trouble finding a replacement.

Sick of people hating on barao he's not scared to fight dillashaw he pulled out because of cutting weight it's not easy believe me I know and it can knock you about but there's no way in hell barao is scared he was champ for years and destroyed his opponents what makes you think he is scared yeah he got dominated in the last match but look at it like Cain vs dos santos lost the 1st time then 2nd and 3rd fight absolutely smashed dos santos, he's not scared he just faced a problem with cutting weight like most fighters do

He's been cutting weight for over a decade. This is his job, cutting weight is his job, this wasn't a surprise to him. Dillashaw is lightning fast, and just like he got into Barao's head the first fight, Barao will never be the same again after the ass whooping he took. He looked like a deer in the headlights for 25 minutes. I don't think we'll be seeing Barao anytime soon.

Cain JDS 1 was very different. Cain got caught with a single punch that ended that fight. There's a huge difference between getting caught once and getting smashed consistently in every aspect of the fight for 20+ mins.

You see Boxers flying into their fights on private jets and hiring out Villas in the the town they are fighting in and then you see UFC fighters in shitty air con hotel rooms and being rounded up in tiny little rooms for lectures and pep talks. And then they are all crammed onto a fucking bus together like they are going on a fucking school trip.

***** I'm pretty sure all the fighters would put themselves up in rented houses with private pools and training equipment if they could afford it. Those hotel rooms that the UFC put their fighters up in have horrible Air con that you don't really wan't to have to deal with when you have a fight coming up. Sharing a bus to weigh ins, fights etc. with your opponent is undeniably ridiculous.

Let me explain something to you guys who haven't done big cuts before. If you do weight cut your body needs at least 4-6 months before you can fully push it to dehydrate again. It's not like Barao was not going to make it, it's the fact his last fight was just 3 months ago. Yes, he should have had proper diet before hand but I think he thought he could push his body the same way as usual without realising that your body can't not go through another big weight cut in 3 months. No fucking way. He is not scared, however he did not think this through and all the blame lies with his coaches for not knowing something this obvious. Anyone who has done weight cuts knows, the doctors will even tell you to rest your body minimum for 6 months before you try cutting again.

thats because featherweights are cutting from welterweight hhaha samjs721 its the most corrupt thing there could be in this sport i dont get why PEDs are so looked down on when fighters step in the cage physically in another weight class. its why the oriental fighters have such a hard time because they dont weigh 200lbs when they come in to fight at 170.
